Butternut Squash, Lardons, and Cheese Tart

A cozy tart combining the sweet flavor of butternut squash with crispy lardons and melted cheese, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 1 Pie Crust
  • 1 Cup Butternut Squash, Peeled and Diced
  • 1 Cup Lardons or Bacon, Chopped
  • 1 Cup Cheese (Gruyere or Cheddar)
  • 1 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Cream
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste
  • Fresh Herbs (Optional, for Garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust, letting it sit at room temperature if frozen.
  3. Sauté the lardons or bacon in a skillet until crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Sauté the onions in the same skillet for 3-4 minutes, add butternut squash, and cook for an additional 10-12 minutes.
  5. Prepare the filling by whisking together eggs and cream, then mixing in cheese, lardons, and the sautéed mixture.
  6. Fill the pie crust with the mixture.
  7. Bake the tart for 30-35 minutes until set and golden brown.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally garnish with fresh herbs and enjoy with a side salad.
