Tarte Tatin

A delicious upside-down caramelized apple tart that brings warmth and joy to any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (226g)
  • 1 cup sugar (200g)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into quarters.
  3. In a large oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Once melted, add the sugar and vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mix starts bubbling.
  5. Gently place the apple quarters into the skillet, arranging them in circles.
  6. Cook for about 15 minutes until the apples begin to soften, stirring occasionally.
  7. Carefully unroll the puff pastry over the apples and tuck the edges down.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden.
  9. Remove the skillet from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes before flipping the tart onto a plate.

Notes
