Spiced Pear Jam

A delightful homemade spiced pear jam that captures nostalgia and warmth, perfect for spreading on toast or as a filling in pastries.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups pears, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1 pouch fruit pectin

Instructions

  1. Prep your pears by peeling and chopping them into small, bite-sized pieces.
  2. Combine ingredients in a large pot: chop pears, sugar, lemon juice, and spices.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the fruit pectin once bubbling and boil for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Test the consistency by placing a spoonful on a plate and freezing it for one minute.
  6. Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch of headspace.
  7. Seal and process jars in a boiling water bath for about 10 minutes.
  8. Cool completely on a clean kitchen towel and store in a cool, dark place.
