Patty Melt

A classic Patty Melt with juicy beef, melted cheese, caramelized onions, and crispy rye bread, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
  • 4 slices of rye bread
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Butter, for grilling
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Slice the onion and bread, and measure out your cheese.
  2. Caramelize the onions: In a skillet over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of butter, add the onions and a pinch of salt. Cook until golden brown and sweet, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Shape the patties: While onions are caramelizing, shape the beef into two equal patties and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the patties: In another skillet, melt more butter over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, adding cheese on top during the last minute.
  5. Assemble the Patty Melts: Start with a slice of rye bread, add a cheesy patty, and a scoop of caramelized onions, then top with another slice of bread.
  6. Grill to perfection: Melt more butter in the skillet and grill the sandwiches until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.

Notes
