Apple Cinnamon Dutch Baby

A golden, puffed pancake topped with sweet, caramelized apples and a sprinkle of cinnamon, perfect for cozy breakfasts.

  • 2 large apples
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or oats)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or honey)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, powdered sugar, extra cinnamon, or nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Core and slice your apples into thin wedges.
  3. Sauté the apple wedges in a skillet with butter, sugar, and cinnamon for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining sugar, salt, and spices; then add eggs and milk and blend until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the hot skillet, layer the sautéed apples on top, and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Allow the Dutch baby to cool for a minute before serving warm.
