Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

A heartwarming dish reminiscent of childhood memories that combines ground beef with a creamy sauce and crunchy crackers for a cozy comfort food experience.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 package saltine crackers, crushed
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, seasoning with salt and pepper until cooked through, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Mix the browned beef, crushed saltine crackers, chopped onion, cream of mushroom soup, and milk in a bowl until well combined.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading evenly.
  5. Bake covered with aluminum foil for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Serve and enjoy with mashed potatoes or a salad.

Notes

Add shredded cheese for a cheesy version or incorporate veggies for extra nutrition.
