Gâteau Moelleux aux Pommes et aux Amandes

A delightful and comforting French apple almond cake, perfect for cozy gatherings.

  • 3 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • 150g ground almonds
  • 150g sugar
  • 100g butter (softened)
  • 3 eggs
  • 150g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Prepare your apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them into thin wedges.
  3. Mix butter and sugar in a bowl until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  5. Incorporate the dry ingredients: ground almonds, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Add the vanilla extract and stir well.
  7. Fold in the sliced apples gently.
  8. Grease a 9-inch cake pan with butter or cooking spray.
  9. Pour the batter into the pan and level it out.
  10. Bake for 30-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Dust with powdered sugar and serve with ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
