Tater Tot Casserole with Ground Beef

A nostalgic and hearty tater tot casserole combining layers of creamy beef, cheese, and a crunchy tater tot topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until the meat is browned and the onion is softened—about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Mix the creamy goodness: Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Build the layers: Spread half of the beef mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle one cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top, then layer the remaining beef mixture and top with the rest of the cheese.
  5. Get tater-totty!: Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top of the casserole.
  6. Bake it up: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Cool and serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes
