Marmellata Di Fichi: Ricetta Fatta in Casa

A delightful homemade fig jam that captures the essence of summertime in a jar.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg fresh figs
  • 700 g granulated sugar
  • 1 organic lemon (juice and zest)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the figs by washing them gently, drying, and slicing them in half.
  2. Combine sliced figs, sugar, lemon juice and zest, and salt in a pot.
  3. Let the mixture sit for 1 to 2 hours to release natural juices.
  4. Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 30-40 minutes until bubbly.
  5. Check for doneness by placing a spoonful on a chilled plate.
  6. Jar the jam into sterilized jars, leaving space at the top to create a vacuum seal.

Notes
