Apple Butter Biscuits

Deliciously soft and warm biscuits made with apple butter, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup oats (optional)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar or sweetener of choice
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup apple butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk or dairy alternative

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.
  4. Add the softened butter to your dry ingredients and work it into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, apple butter, and milk.
  6. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it just a few times.
  8. Pat the dough into about an inch thick rectangle and cut out your biscuits using a floured biscuit cutter.
  9. Pop them in your preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

These biscuits can be served warm topped with honey, apple butter, or on their own. They can also be made ahead of time and frozen for later.
