Spooktacular Halloween Sugar Cookies

Delightful sugar cookies perfect for Halloween, decorated with orange and black icing.

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Orange and black icing (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a medium bowl, whisking together the flour and a pinch of salt.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl using a mixer until fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
  5. Incorporate the dry ingredients gradually into the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick and cut with cookie cutters.
  8. Bake the cookies for about 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool the cookies on a wire rack.
  10. Decorate the cooled cookies with orange and black icing.
