Fig Jam

A nostalgic and delightful recipe for homemade fig jam that brings comforting flavors and memories to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds Fresh Figs
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 cup Water

Instructions

  1. Start by washing your fresh figs under cold water. Pat them dry and remove the stems. You can chop them roughly, or leave them whole for a chunkier texture.
  2. In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, combine your figs, sugar, lemon juice, and water. Stir everything well until the sugar starts to dissolve.
  3. Place the pot over medium heat and bring your mixture to a simmer. Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
  4. Continue simmering the mixture for about 30–40 minutes until the figs break down entirely and the jam thickens.
  5. To check if your jam is ready, place a spoonful on a chilled plate. If it holds its shape when you run your finger through it, it’s done!
  6. Once your fig jam is ready, pour it into sterilized jars while it’s hot. Seal them up and allow to cool.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider using honey or agave syrup instead of sugar. Experiment with spices or herbs for unique flavors.
