Moist Southern Peach Bread

A delightful and moist peach bread inspired by Southern kitchens, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups fresh peaches, diced
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with oil or butter.
  3. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  4. Mix the buttermilk, vegetable oil, and eggs in another bowl and stir in the vanilla.
  5. Combine the wet ingredients into the dry ones, stirring gently until just mixed.
  6. Fold in the diced peaches.
  7. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake for about 60-70 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Use fresh or thawed frozen peaches for best results. Consider adding nuts or chocolate for a personal twist.
