Tarte aux Poires

A classic French dessert featuring tender pears in a creamy custard nestled in a flaky crust, perfect for creating sweet memories.

Ingredients

  • 34 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 eggs
  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • Nutmeg, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust by placing it into a tart pan or rolling out your own dough.
  3. Refrigerate the crust for about 15 minutes.
  4. Prepare the pears by peeling and slicing them.
  5. Make the custard filling by whisking together eggs and sugar, then adding cream and extracts.
  6. Assemble the tart by layering pear slices and pouring the custard mixture over them.
  7. Bake the tart for about 45-50 minutes until the custard is set and golden brown.
  8. Cool the tart before slicing and serving.

Notes

This tart can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge. Best served warm or chilled.
