Apple Cider Donuts

Delicious homemade apple cider donuts that evoke the flavors of autumn, perfect for sharing with friends and family.

  • 2 cups apples, finely diced
  • 1 ½ cups oats or all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk or buttermilk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar plus extra for dusting
  • 1 cup fresh apple cider
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the donut pan by lightly greasing it with non-stick spray or oil.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients: whisk together the oats or flour, baking powder, spices, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Mix the wet ingredients: in another bowl, combine the eggs, apple cider, milk, and sugar until well blended.
  5. Fold in the diced apples into the wet ingredient mixture.
  6. Combine the dry and wet mixtures: gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Fill the donut pan: spoon the batter into each cavity about halfway.
  8. Bake for about 15-18 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly pressed.
  9. Cool in the pan for five minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Sugar coat the donuts by rolling them in a bowl of sugar.
