A melt-in-your-mouth chocolate and pear cake, rich in flavor and nostalgia.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
  • 150g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa)
  • 100g butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
  • 100g sugar (or coconut sugar/honey)
  • 3 eggs (or flax eggs for egg-free)
  • 100g all-purpose flour (or gluten-free blend)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

  2. Prepare the pears: Peel and slice them thin.
  3. Melt the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over simmering water.
  4. Combine the sugar with the melted chocolate mixture.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  7. Combine the wet and dry mixtures by gradually adding the flour mixture to the chocolate mixture.
  8. Fold in the pear slices gently.
  9. Pour the batter into a greased and lined round cake pan.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until edges are set and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack.

Notes
