Easy Oven Baked Cajun Chicken Breasts

A simple and flavorful recipe for Cajun chicken breasts, perfect for cozy dinners.

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1 ½ lbs / 680g)
  • 12 tablespoons Cajun Seasoning (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oil (olive or canola)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Pound the chicken: Place chicken breasts between plastic wrap and pound to an even thickness (~1-inch).
  2. Preheat your oven: To 400°F (200°C).
  3. Create the seasoning mix: Combine Cajun seasoning, brown sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Coat the chicken: Rub the seasoning mix all over the chicken breasts.
  5. Sear the chicken: Heat oil in an oven-safe skillet and sear chicken for about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Add garlic and butter: Reduce heat, add butter and garlic, and spoon over chicken.
  7. Transfer to oven: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  8. Rest the chicken: Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  9. Slice and serve: Garnish as desired and enjoy with your favorite sides.

Notes

Feel free to substitute chicken thighs for breasts and adjust cooking times accordingly.
