Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp

A creamy and flavorful dish combining tender chicken and shrimp, infused with bourbon for a touch of New Orleans flair.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare your chicken: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once it’s shimmering, toss in the chicken. Sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is golden and fully cooked.
  2. Add the shrimp: Once the chicken is cooked, slide the shrimp into the skillet. Add the butter and Cajun seasoning, mixing well. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp turn pink.
  3. Create the sauce: Pour in the bourbon and allow it to simmer for about 2 minutes to cook off some alcohol.
  4. Add creamy goodness: Reduce heat to low and pour in the heavy cream. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes. Let simmer for another 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Serve: Adjust seasonings before plating and serve over rice, pasta, or with bread to soak up the sauce.
